Mavrovo – National Park and Ski Resort

Mavrovo is North Macedonia’s largest national park and its main ski destination, set around Mavrovo Lake in the mountains of the west. In winter the Zare Lazarevski ski centre offers slopes for all levels; in summer the park is a place of hiking, cycling and the famous St. John Bigorski Monastery with its carved wooden iconostasis. The half-submerged church in the lake is one of the most photographed sights in the country.

From Skopje International Airport the drive runs west via Tetovo and Gostivar, then climbs into the park. In winter the road is cleared regularly, and our drivers use vehicles suited to mountain conditions.
