Kruševo – The Highest Town in the Balkans

Kruševo sits high on a mountainside in central Macedonia and is often described as the highest town in the Balkans. Its old town is a well-preserved ensemble of 19th-century houses with white walls and wooden balconies, while the striking Makedonium monument above the town commemorates the 1903 Ilinden Uprising. Paragliding launch sites, a small ski area and quiet forest walks make it a year-round destination.

From Skopje International Airport the route runs south on the motorway and then west past Prilep, before climbing the winding road up to the town. The ascent offers wide views over the Pelagonia plain.

Reaching Kruševo by public transport means two or three changes. A private transfer takes you directly from arrivals to your guesthouse in town, luggage included, at a price fixed when you book.
