Peštani – A Lakeside Village Near Ohrid

Peštani is a traditional fishing village on the eastern shore of Lake Ohrid, a short way south of Ohrid town. It is known for its pebble beaches and clear water, the Museum on Water at the Bay of Bones nearby – a reconstructed prehistoric pile-dwelling settlement – and the hiking trails that climb into Galičica National Park behind it. Family guesthouses and lakeside restaurants serving Ohrid trout give the village its relaxed holiday feel.

From Skopje International Airport the route follows the main road to Ohrid and then the lake shore road south. The last part of the drive runs right beside the water, a pleasant finale after a flight.

There is no direct bus from the airport to Peštani, so a private transfer saves a change in Skopje and another in Ohrid. Your driver meets you at arrivals, loads your bags and takes you straight to your guesthouse.
